  9780435093105 - Literacy World Stage 4 Fiction:Cal's Log (6 Pack)

  All about two cousins who are stuck inside an enormous stack, after their boat Puffin becomes a ship wreck. It is set in the middle of the sea in a haunted, rock stack. There are plenty of tunnels they explore as well as deathly water pits. I enjoyed the whole adventure of the stack and Cal’s diary, but I loved the words the author used to describe the colossus stack and its hollow insides. However, I got a bit boring because all they do is go round and round the tunnels not much happens until the ending parts of the story. I think it’s a good book good for age 6-12. I'll rate it 7/10.

  "We’ve been using revised edition Literacy World and Literacy World Interactive since May 2004. We chose these resources as Heinemann is a trusted publisher and we knew that the resources would be of a high standard. Literacy World is a very versatile programme. I really like the way that it provides a solid base for teaching every lesson, saving me valuable time, yet I can also amend it to suit my needs. I have also found that it has given me some new ideas for teaching! I would say that Literacy World is very good for children – the books and software are motivational and eye-catching. The resources give the children a lot to talk about and can grab the attention of every child in the class. I particularly love Literacy World Interactive - and so do my pupils! They are attracted to the colourful content and it’s easy to see - so the children make sense of the lessons quickly. What’s more, I find it really easy to navigate and the text highlighting and editing tools are really simple to use and save me a lot of preparation time."
