Reading Recovery

Supporting the Every Child a Reader initiative!

Reading Recovery is a school-based intervention programme developed by Marie M. Clay in New Zealand, designed to help children who are still experiencing reading and writing difficulties by the end of their first year of primary school.

What is Reading Recovery?

Reading Recovery involves reading sessions with specially trained teachers and includes books, letter and word work, and writing. These sessions aim to reduce literacy problems by providing intensive one-on-one specialist literacy teaching support for early-years children for a period of 15 to 20 weeks.
