Supporting your EBacc needs

As you consider your next steps in relation to the EBacc, we’re here to provide you with as much information and support as possible.

The English Baccalaureate (EBacc) is a new certificate that will be awarded to any student who secures good GCSE or iGCSE passes in English, maths, the sciences, a modern or ancient foreign language and a humanity subject such as history or geography.

The EBacc is not a new qualification.

The Government intends the EBacc to become one of the main measures of achievement for schools in the future.

The DfE has created a list of qualifications currently recognised for the EBacc|. In each subject a student must secure a ‘good pass’. This means a GCSE level A*-C.   For more information read the DfE 'The Importance of Teaching: Schools White Paper'|.
