Literacy Hub
Early literacy is crucial to long-term educational success
It's widely recognised that getting the basics right in reading and writing early in a child’s life is critical for their future educational success.
Reading, writing, communication and language are the key to unlocking deeper learning across the curriculum, and have been identified by Ofsted, the Department for Education and independent research bodies (such as the Education Endowment Foundation) as the number one priority for teaching and learning in Reception and Key Stage 1.
The Literacy Hub is your centre for all things Primary Literacy - there's lots more coming soon so stay tuned!
Supporting English Hubs
The recently established network of English Hubs across England are designed to support best practice in early literacy, and are focusing on three key areas for success:
- Consistent systematic synthetic phonics teaching and practice
- Development of early language and vocabulary
- Development of a love of reading, and reading for pleasure and enjoyment
English Hubs are supporting schools in their local area to share best practice and develop approaches in each of these key areas to ensure educational success for all pupils.
