As part of the DfE announcement to expand the Accelerator Fund, your school could benefit from additional funding to purchase and embed a Systematic Synthetic Phonics Programme (SSP). As one of the DfE’s approved phonics teaching programmes, you can spend your funding on Bug Club Phonics.
State funded schools are eligible, and include infant schools, primary schools, junior schools, special schools and pupil referral units with primary school aged children.

We’re here to support you with the next steps in accessing funding.
Funding is being distributed via the English Hub network and gives schools the opportunity to apply for up to £9,000 towards resources and training in addition to free Medium-Level Hub support.
Funding for Priority Education Investment Areas
You could claim up to £9000 funding towards Bug Club Phonics resources and training if your school is in one of the Priority Education Investment Areas.
Funding for Non-Priority Education Investment Areas
You could still claim up to £9000 funding towards Bug Club Phonics resources and training if you are in a Non-Priority Education Investment Area. You will be required to match fund 25% of the value of funding claimed.
Funding for Priority Education Investment Areas
You could claim up to £9000 funding towards Bug Club Phonics resources and training if your school is in one of the Priority Education Investment Areas.

You could still claim up to £9000 funding towards Bug Club Phonics resources and training if you are not in a Priority Education Investment Area. You will be required to match fund 25% of the value of funding claimed.
Priority will be given to those schools in Priority Education Investment Areas and Non-Priority Education Investment Areas.
Priority will also be given to schools who match the following criteria:

They will also help you understand Bug Club Phonics, part of our Bug Club family, and talk you through our Rapid Reading, Rapid Phonics and training resources we have available. We work closely alongside Hubs across the country and also offer 25% discount on eligible resources to schools accessing funding.
