Edexcel GCE AS and A Level in Design and Technology
Pearson Edexcel Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced GCE in Design and Technology: Food Technology specification focuses on key areas that the food industry has to consider, including quality of food, processing of food, packaging and labeling, health and safety, and nutritional value and contribution to dietary control and sustained good health. It aims to develop students’ ability to produce food products that are fit for purpose, satisfy wants or needs, and enhance our day-to-day lives. Pearson Edexcel GCE in Product Design offers two pathways, Resistant Materials Technology and Graphic Products, each with its own specific content. The structure of the specification allows students to develop a range of skills and outcomes at Advanced Subsidiary (AS), demonstrating their creativity, and apply these to a design and make project at Advanced level (A2). The specification seeks to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of, and skills and application in, designing products. They will also develop their research, analysis, product development, project planning and evaluation skills.
