Working with the Teacher Partnership Programme

"With the implementation of the new GCSE 9-1, we decided to review our approach to KS3 Science to make sure we were supporting teachers and students in the new environment.

Working with the TPP gave us the opportunity to work with teachers over several months, so we could really understand their KS3 Science teaching objectives and needs, consider how we are meeting these and fill any gaps if necessary.

The programme has provided real insight into the need to make science accessible to all, from the language used in assessments through to the use of real-world examples which students find relevant. The partnership identified areas where teachers told us they needed more support, which led to the creation of a new Lab Book and updating the Scheme of Work, to ensure students have a strong knowledge base prior to GCSE.

We have used the learning from this Programme to inform our forward strategy for KS3 science resources, including how we prioritise the development of new features."
