Assessment Builder

ALDS_ProgressAssess

New for 2019

The Assessment Builder tool allows teachers to create custom assessments and mark schemes using questions supplied in some ActiveLearn Progress & Assess subscriptions.

After you create a custom assessment, you can also enter your students' marks in your online markbooks just as you would for a Pearson-created assessment. Learn more.

Using Assessment Builder

Assessment Builder is accessed through the Assess menu in ActiveLearn.

The main view shows a list of all the assessments you and other teachers in your school have created.

1. Create a new assessment

When first creating an assessment, you will need to name it, select the subject, and select the relevant key stage(s).

2. Add and order questions

Next, add questions from your subject to build your assessment.

You can use the filtering tools to narrow down to the most relevant questions. Clicking on each question will let you preview it. Once you have selected all of your desired questions, the Order questions tab will let you rearrange them as you see fit.

When choosing and re-ordering questions, the spread of marks and ramping difficulty for your assessment is shown along the top of the page.

3. Review

When you are finished selecting and ordering your questions, click Next in the top right corner.

In this last step, you can review your created assessment and the automatically generated Mark Scheme.

When you are finished, click Save and Exit.

You have created a custom assessment!

4. Download

When you are ready to set an assessment to your students, just open it from the list on the main Assessment Builder page. You can download the assessment and mark scheme in either Word or PDF format.

When you set this test to students, you can enter the results in a matching markbook. To do this, simply go to the Markbook page and open your markbook for the relevant course (or create a new one). In this markbook, open the Add assessment results view to find your created assessment under the Custom test paper category.
